FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you are under 18, your parent(s) or guardian(s) will be a part of the process because you need their consent to participate in therapy. They can sign a consent form online. Once you have talked to your parents and they sign the consent form, we can set up a consultation session. Tamara can speak with your parents to help you get started.

Tamara offers a free, 20-minute consultation session over the phone or in person so that you can talk to her and get a sense of what therapy is like. You can ask any questions you may have and meet Tamara without making a commitment to starting therapy.

Sessions take place once a week, and they last for 50 minutes.

Being able to share openly is an important part of therapy, and Tamara will not share the details of your sessions with your parents (or anyone else). Depending on your situation, Tamara may speak with them to help them support you and to get updates about your progress. If your safety is in question, Tamara will involve your parents to keep you safe. If Tamara ever needs to share material from a session to keep you safe, you will know about it. Tamara will talk to you more about confidentiality and parent communication in your first session.
